It’s time to decorate! We’ve turned the seasonal page and are enjoying the beautiful colors of autumn. Now is also a good time to plan ahead for the task of outdoor decorating this holiday season.

“Visit any home improvement store these days, and you’ll see the front end filled with products for outdoor decorating,” said Christmas Decor by Arvidson lighting designer, Bill Grant. “Christmas decorations and outdoor lights are an important part of the holiday season experience.”

Are you a planner? If so, you’ve probably already been planning to take advantage of the warm weather to hang your outdoor lights. Installing your decorations while the weather is still warm is a much more pleasant experience. It can also help you avoid the risk of slipping on ice and snow if you wait until November or December.

Do you know a deserving military family? Would you like to brighten their holiday season? If so, we have a program you should know about, but you’ll have to act fast!

Christmas Decor sponsors the Decorated Family program. It’s now underway, and nominations are open through Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2020.

Nominate a Local Military Family to Receive Free Holiday Lights

The Perks

The selected family enjoys a professionally designed and installed holiday lighting display. To nominate a family for this distinction, friends and family of deployed, active-duty military may go to the Christmas Decor Facebook Page, click on the Decorated Family Program link, and complete a form explaining why you nominate this family.

“This year, the families of the more than 165,000 active-duty men and women who are deployed outside of the United States and its territories face celebrating the holiday season without their loved one,” said Dennis Marunde of Christmas Decor by Arvidson.  “The Decorated Family program literally lights up the holidays for these families and sends a glowing ‘thank you’ to these service members for their dedication and sacrifice. We would be honored if a military family in our community was nominated and we can provide this heartwarming service.”

Christmas Decor by Arvidson was lucky enough to participate in the Decorated Family program in 2014. We decorated a local navy reserves servicewoman’s home.

Deadline

Remember, the deadline for nominations for free holiday lights is Monday, November 11, 2020 at midnight.  More information about the Christmas Decor Decorated Family program is available here.

Christmas Decor corporate selects military families from the nominated families in each community. It’s based on the family’s location (to ensure there is a local franchise to provide the award). They also base it on the impact of their story on the judges.
